Update: The company contacted me immediately to reply to all my comments below and sent me a new version to see if it solves all my problems/issues. I'll leave the information below for anyone considering either version, along with a note of the differences. Note. Both the old and new systems use AHD video signals and are not backward compatible with the standard composite camera output that most wired rear cameras offer. , so you'll probably need to replace any OEM cameras with the ones that come with them. 1) Behavior, speed, performance, reliability and responsiveness of this product are highly dependent on the performance of the SD card used in it. If you're having trouble with the product I highly recommend trying a higher quality SD card like the Lexar 633x which has improved things by 200% for me. Note. The new version had no problems with the included SD card. Not sure if they just included a better map or improved the software. I will still use the Lexar I bought. 2) The cameras do not have IR LEDs for night vision functions. They seem to handle low light fairly well, but obviously not complete darkness. Personally, I don't need it, and it's not advertised, but I wanted to note it anyway. IR filter but one camera's filter wouldn't switch to night mode so I'll be contacting them again to request a replacement. 3) The buttons and menu interface are far from intuitive and take some getting used to. For example, the "mode" button is actually a button to start/stop recording, select and change settings. The key between the + and - keys, usually called the "Select" key, allows you to enter and exit the menu. There are very strange choices. The delay in the return of the turn signal trigger is called "rear delay" for some reason. None of these can be used, and it might have been easier with a remote control, but I didn't have one to try. Note. The buttons in the new system make a little more sense. Definitely an improvement, and using the included remote improves it even more, but it's still not entirely natural menu navigation for me. The notation of the menu items is the same as in the old system, with different graphics. 4) I saw a video review from a person who didn't understand the purpose of the trip wires and just connected them all together. These wires don't (and shouldn't) turn individual cameras on/off, they indicate if they should be prioritized on the display. You'll need to connect one to each turn signal and one to the reversing lights to allow those cameras to go full screen at the right time. Since the flasher triggers are constantly turning on and off, there is a delay setting that determines how long to wait before reverting to the split display. This is called "rear lag". Linking all the triggers together will likely drive things crazy as he doesn't know which camera to prioritize in this case. 2, 3 and 4.5) There are no separate camera rotation settings, only mirroring, but it's easy enough to physically rotate them, so this isn't a huge issue. Note. They said it was fixed in the new system but it wasn't. There are separate camera mirror options, but no rotation. The only rotation option is to install the monitor upside down.
