See my third update below: The last flip phone I had just before I bought my first iPhone was in a case with a clip, all the way around my belt , which meant it couldn't fall off, which was always the case with clip-on cases. I loved this case until this phone died. Unfortunately, it was too small for most other phones. I've been looking for a case like this since I got my first iPhone in 2011. It protects my phone and doesn't fall every time I sit down or bend over. It can be worn both vertically and horizontally as you prefer. The flap is very secure as long as you remember to make sure the velcro sticks together. Another great feature is that this case is large enough to hold your iPhone (or any other smartphone) along with the protective case. I have both an Otterbox and a Zvolt battery and my iPhone fits in whatever case I'm in. Many belt bags only fit on your smartphone without a protective cover. It has a few minor flaws. half an inch wide, while that on the flap is about an inch wide. I think it would be better if both velcro straps were the same size or at least close to the same size as that would provide a more secure hold and be more flexible to secure the flap when your smartphone is in the Otterbox. or other cases you may be using which may vary the thickness of your phone and/or case by approximately 1/2 inch or so. 2) I've only had this case for about three weeks so I can't really say if it's durable but the belt loop isn't double stitched which makes it more prone to wear and tear anyway which is a natural weak point of the case and ensures that it isn't frays too easily at the seams while adding maybe two or three bucks to the cost of the case.Update: I've had this case for about six weeks now and the velcro is already showing signs of excessive wear. so short that it no longer stays completely closed and the lid often flies open. I found I had to press down hard to make sure it even hooked. For this reason, I have downgraded my rating from the original four stars to three stars. Otherwise I am very happy with this case. The price is very reasonable and the black goes with any color you wear. Second update: It is now January and I have had this case since November 10th, just over ten weeks. The velcro is very worn and the valve doesn't stick to it very well. It takes a few seconds to play with to attach the velcro. I just noticed this morning that the stitching along the belt loop has frayed and is separating from the case by about an inch and a half. It won't take more than two or three weeks. It's not past the return period, so I'm returning this case. I am extremely disappointed. I thought I found a good, durable case. Unfortunately it isn't. It turns out to be a rather inferior product.
