I bought 3 inch foam to put on my purple mattress. The purple mattress completely failed in what the advertisements claimed to relieve pressure point pain. I have scoliosis, 2 back surgeries with 18 level fusion, I weigh 100 pounds and sleep soda. I have severe, localized pain in my right thigh, which is the main support for my weight. This is complicated by neuropathic pain, which is a different mechanism but causes me very similar pain issues in the same area. There was an adjustment period for the first week or two and I was frustrated that I was still waking up in pain. After a few weeks, however, the pain subsided dramatically, allowing me to sleep much better. Overall comfort plays a big role. The shoulder is also comfortable. So I recommend this product and am grateful to finally have relief without having to spend $1,000 or more on a new mattress.
