Dish hardware is fine. If you can figure out the installer software

I bought my Dish Tailgater Pro in October 2019 and unfortunately couldn't use it so it sat in my cupboard until 3/28/2020 Activate two Wally receivers that I - $2 to $7 per month (pay as you go?) - on my home dish account. I wanted to know what they were doing before I went camping. I hooked up the first one to the TailgaterPro and my home TV and everything seemed fine with the setup BEFORE restarting and checking when it tried to re-download the software which then seemed to hang. 20 minutes later (it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes as I said) I hit the power button and it started up again and the same bad process started again (another 20 wasted minutes)! Then I turned the device off and on again and when it wanted me to enter its state I chose another option instead of scanning (sorry I can't remember the name of the button) and finally I was able to it kind of go to the Dish Diagnostics page and after playing around with the settings I chose a satellite that I believe was at 0 and made it a '1'. I then tuned it down to 129 and it produced a deep, constant, monotonous barrage. By doing this with both receivers, I was eventually able to manipulate the software's screens to make it work. In the end I was also able to download the (more waiting) channel guide in 2 days. My overall impression is: it's just me, but if you get into my situation, it wasn't great and I spent over three and a half hours activating the receiver and then trying to figure out how to get a picture. Luckily I understood enough to know what to do on my own. I believe the option to scan after reboot should have picked the satellite for my condition, but that's just not the case. With a bit of luck, logic, and common sense, I was able to get it working, but that contributed to my 2-star "Easy to Install" rating, and that's just for getting it to work. Revain did a great job with ordering and shipping, Dish actually did a great job with image quality, but the software's easy installation requires a lot of correction. I shouldn't have done what I did and I understand the frustration and complaints these people have about these reviews. I could have also called and asked for tech support but the person I spoke to about activating the receivers had a heavy foreign accent and I could barely understand him so I figured trying to get tech support would be a nightmare. Fortunately, after much frustration, I figured it out.
