I wrote a previous review about this camera but it has been removed. I'm not sure why. In any case, this will be an abridged version. The only default settings that need to be changed are exposure/shutter speed and DNR. Set the shutter to manual and the speed to 1/4000. This will give you clear night video as well as daytime cars speeding up to 25-45 mph. Also select high for DNR. That's all. No other settings need to be changed. At night, the screen is pitch black, but there's nothing you can do about it. This is what it would look like if you wanted cameras to capture license plates. When it comes to camera positioning, it works best at maximum magnification so you can focus. Also, don't forget to zoom in on the area where you know the front/rear license plates go through. 8-10 feet height and 30-45 degree angles on a vehicle is pretty much optimal. It really is like that. If you have any questions I'll try to come back to answer them, but if you set it up like I did above you'll get 95-100% night shots and 100% day shots of cars going 45mph drive. . Maybe faster.
