I have actually bought several pairs of these shoes after ordering one pair. They are very well made, easy to clean and ideal for an active 8 year old. They are durable and don't wear out like most shoes. My kid even plays soccer with them. Bought these for my school uniform but he always wants to wear them because they are so comfortable. I recommend buying a shoe lift as it can be a bit difficult to put on at first, but after you put it on a few times it will be a lot easier.
