Review on Waykar Industrial Dehumidifier, Large Capacity 296 Pints with Hose Connection for Optimal Moisture Control by Kurt Ferguson

Works well in my basement

I bought this unit because my basement was too wet. I already have 2 permanently running dehumidifiers and a heat pump water heater that pulls excess moisture out of the air. I had trouble getting the humidity below 60%. After this unit was delivered I left it overnight to ensure that the refrigerant would settle out if it were disturbed in transit. Unboxing was pretty easy, once you cut the straps the box lifts straight up. The packaging had a few dents so I was a bit worried they might get damaged, but the airbags it contained prevented this. I will say that the device was heavy since the body is metal. It looks well built and durable. I'm a bit limited as to where I can run it in my basement as the unit spec says it's 1900W (I'll get around to measuring it eventually). I had a dedicated one where I could run it and not worry about the switch tripping. My only complaint is that the cord is a bit short and it's in a corner of the device. The air intake is on the back of the device and the exhaust exits on one side, making it more difficult to position the device with the cord in the corner. I have a drain hose (included in the kit) that goes to a condensate drain pump that drains water to the outside. After setting it up, I turned the unit on in my basement at high fan speed. Releases a lot of air. This reduced the humidity from 62% to 45% in about 2 hours. This reading was confirmed by a nearby dryer. I will say that this block gives off some heat. He raised the basement temperature in his workspace by a few degrees, but that's a byproduct of air drying and an acceptable trade-off. In general I am satisfied with the purchase. I will post an update at the end of the summer season. Update: I've closed this for the season due to the colder weather. It worked very well but raised the temperature in my basement.
