My son has worn the new balances since he could walk because he has a wide foot and they have always given him the support he needed. I believe the support in this pair is at the level I have come to expect over the years. However, the quality is lower than expected. This was the first year I'd let him choose his own shoes, so I'll admit they might not have been the ones I would have gone with, but he wanted something that matched his uniform requirements and wasn't so "boring" " is how I would choose you. After a month of hard wear, the shoe is still serviceable, but the decals are peeling off, the heel is starting to wear, and the toes are wearing out more than any pair we've had before. My kid is tough on his sneakers so I expect visible wear and tear at this stage, but it's a bit overkill. However, the shoe's support and cushioning remain good and are not likely to wear out.
