I have a small dog with a voracious appetite so if I leave my cat food within my dog's reach he will eat my picky cat food. But my 14-year-old cat with spinal arthritis was finding it increasingly difficult to jump up on the food counter. So I attached it to the cupboard door under the counter, and now it climbs easily onto the food counter. It was easy to attach. Some customer reviews said it wasn't durable but they should have heavy duty crampons. My cat is only 7 pounds so this ladder is strong enough for her. However, if you have a large/heavy cat, you can simply add an L-Bracket to the bottom for extra support.
