Review on ๐ŸŽฅ Black Logitech BRIO Ultra HD Webcam: Enhance Video Conferencing, Recording, and Streaming by Art Porras

If it didn't cost so much I would put it in the field with my friends and our baseball bats.

I have been working in various IT roles in SDLC and hardware development for 11 years. I've owned these for about a year. In all my years of professional and personal work with audio/video devices, sysadmin/virtualization, financial devices and a library of different programming languages, this is the worst and most frustrating product I have ever dealt with. This aroused new and deep feelings of hatred. Hope is a forgotten memory. Let us begin! Hardware: - Nice picture for a split second until the low light compensation throws the resolution and/or frame rate down. If you turn off the computer in low light (you should or the camera is set to constantly fight for image quality), with every movement it begins to pull an episode of Pokemon Porygon with lightning strikes (very, very scary). This can cause convulsions from sudden changes in light. It's as much of a joke as it isn't. The real joke is the product in general. - But seriously, if you manage to get 4k working in OBS for a second, you don't move at all, or the screen starts to stretch out into a discolored dream of Technicolor fever. I hope your stream or recording session contains statues because unfortunately people are moving and it's just not compatible with this webcam. If you get stable 4k performance even in Logitech Capture, rest assured that most likely this will not happen. works this way in OBS. Well, it will work, but the next time you boot up or even look at the camera like it doesn't like it, your settings will revert back to 720p with the GIF/Gameboy frame rate. It really looks like it was written down on a calculator or maybe in a box of broken dreams. Your USB host/controller probably won't work with it, which means you'll need to update it to make it work as it should. Yes, I'm talking onboard USB 3 (I have a Texas Instrument USB3 host), not even aftermarket PCIe cards. Most USB 3 hosts will not work with this webcam! I strongly encourage you to google your USB 3 hardware situation if for some unknown and ungodly reason you are still optimistic. Read on if you are :) - wowowow I _hate_ this thing. Software/Logitech Capture: - This is really for configuration/settings only, and this is such an incredible feature that Logitech has introduced: no settings are saved. Each time you reload, roll the dice to see if the camera works. I created a Logitech profile because they said your settings were stored in the cloud. I was hoping this would allow for better storage of configuration settings (read: in general). Just like when you stop using the cloud, the settings will eventually disappear the next time you use it, be it 4 seconds or 4 months. Just plan to set everything up the way you just unpacked it. every single ray. - Relax, knowing that the life and suffering of this chamber will eventually end. - Just do not. don't buy that. Buy therapy if you do, but I recommend running away and taking cover. save yourself and your family. Hide your wife, hide your children. Now when you think about buying, don't think at all. Some people really say "It's nice when it works" like we've thrown in hundreds of things you need to find a party of 9-10 people. Companions (at least one warrior and one white mage), break through a veil of driver/firmware shadows, likely make their way to a new USB host and arrive at a 4k secret garden just to start over. Single. Day. You'll wonder why you spent so much and why Logitech did this to their paying customers. Although it would be a cool video if any of us recreated the Office Space scene with Brios! :)
