Review on πŸ’» Upgrade MacBook Air (2013-2017) with M.2 NVME SSD Convert Adapter Card by David Merculief

Fits great but you will need a small strip of tape

Connects and screws together easily. Based on numerous online reviews, this is one of the best MacBook upgrade adapters. I chose a 1TB Intel 660p SSD to pair with as I have had many Intel drives and they are well built and the firmware is always compatible. While you could get a much faster Intel 760p SSD for the old 2014 MBP, it was set to 660P, which was fast enough. This adapter worked without issues the first time and gets full 4x PCIe if your MacBook supports it. Some older MacBooks have 4 PCIe slots, but the original SSD doesn't support more than 2 PCIe slots (ie Mid 2014 MBP). So in many cases, not only do you get an inexpensive way to upgrade your storage with M.2 drives, which are widely available and cheaper, but you also get twice the speed. The only minor issue is that the MacBook connector has a metal grounding tab that is meant to plug into the original drive where there is a large grounding pad. This pad is not on the adapter because the new M.2 connector needs enough space. This puts the grounding tab very close to the tiny wires on the M.2 connectors, and pushing the adapter in too far can short out the pins. Since you are installing this with the battery disconnected and the MacBook powered off, there is little risk during the installation. However, if the screw is loose or dropped, it may move 1/2mm and short out. A small piece of good quality electrical tape or similar non-conductive tape over the pins is a quick fix.
