This is the first pair of winter leggings I've bought so I'm learning as I go. I was just tired of coming home from hiking in snowy pants, so I bought them. Within 5 minutes of the second hike I took along the grassy riverbank, I was having issues that rendered these things almost unusable. Some snowdrifts were almost knee deep. The plastic buckles that are supposed to hold the strap to the sole of the boot keep getting caught in the grass or hard snow when I take a step. This stretched them and the boot strap came loose. I had to stop several times to put my seat belt back on. If you more or less trudge through the snow you will push your way through the frozen layers and the poor design of these straps renders these gaiters useless in my opinion. I believe a good strong velcro will work much better than those plastic loops. types.
