Compared to my LG 24MP60G-B 24 IPS" What I like: Looks great in gaming/HDR enabled media Has free sync Works well in non-HDR modes Light weight Sharp image Color space in SDR is close to that of IPS SDR Lighting close to the same as LG IPS Better dimming No ghosting like LG IPS has DCR works very well (automatic screen lighting) Overdrive works in my opinion (I'm not sure I see the difference that IPS has an overclocking function but not well works with videos on YouTube and some games) What I don't like Only 1 custom user profile (LG had 2, I even dismissed LG for this in my review because it needed at least 3) no crosshair like LG IPS (which was a handy feature) no display port (PC users love this port, you had to have room to stick it in there) Not as sharp as my LG screen (to be honest the LG screen has te an adjustable sharpness setting, this oh no) Not much info for this JLink screen, the jLink website wasn't any more helpful than the shop page here. (LG's website at least linked me to the driver and color profile) The user manual doesn't offer much information or more detailed specifications either. The power supply and cable are just as bad as the LG screen, same short cable, about 4ft so they were both terrible with it. As I said in the LG review, they should be at least 6 feet tall. Neutral compared to my LG IPS screen. Both have Free Sync. Both look great in games for different reasons. This HDR is great, but the game needs to support HDR to use it. Most games released before 2017 do not support HDR screen. I only had about 10 games that actually supported it out of 961 games on Steam. So HDR is useless if you don't have media compatible with it. So think about it before you buy this screen. LG IPS has a sharper image while jlink has a softer image, maybe more personal preference here but I prefer sharper images in games and photos. Most of the video content isn't important to me unless it's blurry (plus, I usually use my projector for movies). Both work equally well with SDR content. the same free sync range between 48-75 fps (or Hz) appeared more and appeared more detailed compared to IPS in SDR. Jlink appeared to be a bit flatter/darker in image color even with HDR enabled. I fixed it by increasing the saturation setting on my Radeon by 10% (from the default 100 to 110) then I liked that and like it as much as the LG IPS in this game. Overall, I can't say I like my LG IPS more than this in HDR gaming (because I just can't say I like it more than LG, even in HDR gaming. It's closely related to image quality, but At the moment LG IPS wins in the area of additional features such as crosshairs, 2 custom profiles and a displayport.(Having more than 1 profile helps a lot depending on what media you are working with) I like these two screens equally but from different Reasons. Unfortunately, I can't look into the future. As long as I can, this screen most likely won't even be on sale, or LG IPS, so don't think it matters, "Shrugs" intended LG IPS at $130 about 2 months but for now it's a good screen even in SDR I like it as much as my LG IPS so I mean if you want to try do it but decide what kind of content you will use it.For games ic like h both, but the VA screen has no ghosting, while IPS has ghosting most noticeable in racing games, but also present in other games, just more subtle. Sorry I didn't include any unboxing photos, I was so excited and wanted to try it. From the box I got down to business and hung it on the armrest of the table. But least of all, I've given you a few to look at while editing. My cell phone photos won't do the screen any good if I took a picture of my desktop, but you can at least get a little idea of the color (more blue is added in the camera photo) of the color line on the road, on the desktop it's neon pink , it looks almost purple in the photos) but don't call it bad because it's almost as good as my IPS. In some media I don't see much of a difference between the two. Everything in the box was as expected, had a regular stand like any monitor, comes with a 3ft or so HDMI cable and a very simple and concise instruction manual. .Be sure to read the manual, the OSD items work the same as the LG joystick. If you've used the LG screen, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't read the manual, it's easy, don't worry. I gave my cash paid LG screen 4 stars as I like and hate this screen just as much just for different reasons than LG so it gets a 4 bis. If anything significant happens between now and a year I will indeed update my review. Be careful, I hope my review helps.
