. I have an Acer from Revain and a Xoom from Costco (so I can bring it back to the 90's later). I am returning the Xoom and leaving $150 in my pocket because I see absolutely no use for the Xoom and many for Acer. Many people have written great reviews so I'm just summarizing my experience. I love it and was won over by Acer's extra features and price advantage. No, this new Android OS isn't perfect and I know there will be some tweaks, but I'm amazed at the freedom I have in setting up 5 different desktops or devices. Web pages. Android apps from the Android Store have proven that I already have more than I will ever need, and most of them are free. Some didn't work properly and are written for phones so I just installed them. However, every day more and more devices are released for tablet operating systems that take advantage of the big screen. As for the software, I have no complaints other than I can't watch Netflix YET, but that's fine, I have a TV with a DVD player with internet access and my computers to watch these movies online. It's not a laptop, but I have to tell you that the ACER's USB port lets you connect external storage and a keyboard if you're serious about taking up typing instead of a touch pop-up keyboard. Also, I found a case on Ebay from China with a built in keyboard and a short USB cable for a $30 tablet and it's amazing. I now have the power and convenience of a laptop in a smaller, lighter package, so I no longer have a laptop when I travel, just my tablet and a laptop carrying case with an integrated keyboard. If you want to see this case, go to Ebay and search for the Acer Iconia Keyboard and look at the one that says 'leather case'. I love this keyboard for quick replies and emailing. Many list the differences between the iPad and Xoom, so I won't repeat myself. I will say that they are genuine and I am very happy with my purchase. I was a bit disappointed with the Acer dock as it didn't have a power adapter or a separate HDMI output so you had to use it from a tablet, but I like the remote control (something the Xoom lacks). ) and it also turns the desktop into a digital picture frame, while always staying charged and readable for about 10 hours of full use when you unplug it. and charging (perhaps Motorola did this to make you just one of their two charging docks), but Acer has wisely placed it on the side so you can easily plug it in while perched on either stand. It also looks like Motorola is very easy to break, even though their adapter has a very long cable compared to the short one offered by Acer. But I don't really use a wall-mounted desk anyway, so the length of the cord isn't an issue for me. The only oddity of the hardware is that I've read that others have encountered it as well. The screen lights up and then turns off from time to time for no apparent reason. It's just weird and pointless. I'm sure Acer will fix this with their first OS update in 3.1. So buy and enjoy and forget about the more expensive types if you don't need cellular service. This Wi-Fi enabled tablet is great fun, very easy to communicate with and always ready for anything and also integrates beautifully with Google services like GMail.
