Decent Cold Air Intake for 2005 Ford Focus

I have read many conflicting reviews about this particular K&N cold air intake. Based on my personal experience, I'd say it's overall worth the money - barely. Pros: Increased gas noise Slight increase in acceleration Increased fuel economy (5-10 mpg/tank average) "Pretty" good looks (looks better than the factory system) Cheaper than OEM parts Cons: Relatively difficult to install I went ahead and had did my mechanic, took about an hour, cost me an additional $66 (Ford Focus '05) Not very "sporty" looking Filter hard to come by for future cleaning Overall I would recommend this to anyone looking for an OEM replacement filter, wants a little more power and an increase in MPG and/or trying to add a bit of raspy sound to your engine; anything else and you're wasting your money. I will note that it is REQUIRED that the MASS AIR SENSOR be placed in this intake, facing the "fresh air" side of the intake. Installing the MAF upside down will cause many problems (rough idle, engine stalling, extremely poor acceleration, check engine light, etc.), trust me I know.

Pros
  • EASY MAINTENANCE: No filter required to clean up to 100,000 miles
Cons
