Before the map update

It seemed to work much better on the product before the map update, now it doesn't find certain addresses in Newport Beach, California that it once knew. I suspect intentional sabotage to render the device obsolete and having to replace it after a few map updates, hence the free map updates in the first place. Sort of like "free" tire changes, when you buy a new set of tires, and when you let them change tires for the first time, they "find" a nail in one of the sidewalls. One thing I can't accept - and that's a change from previous versions of the product - is when I get on an interstate like I-405 here in California and drive 30 miles on it. , the device continues to tell me in much smaller increments, say 6.8 miles, and then resets to a new random number of miles after the random exit is passed. It's crazy. The old model told you which road you were on even if it was 300 miles away and didn't calculate the total distance of the road I was on like this one. Sometimes he doesn't take the shortest route, even though it's almost a straight shot from point A to point B, forcing me to do U-turns through Los Angeles freeway exits, sometimes in areas where I could get killed. The bad news is that I usually check google maps before going anywhere which defeats the whole purpose of a GPS.
