I suspect some of the negative reviews are due to people not putting the bandage on properly. The end result is a very thin layer of bandage, which I really like. But if you remove the outer layer before applying I imagine it will be very difficult to work with so don't do it. I am on my fourth hip surgery and this is by far the best bandage I have found for aftercare. I make sure my skin is clean-shaven and my wife changes the bandage at most every two days. Maybe some problems are related to leaving too long? I shower with a bandage and my wound stays dry. I also have drainage and the bandage absorbs liquid fairly well and what isn't absorbed doesn't leak out so my clothes, furniture etc are safe. The removal is painless for me, but again I shave the area. For my scenario, this is a great value, since I have to change the bandage almost every day.
