Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Nintendo Switch Cartridge: Super Mario Odyssey Game by Anastazja Steblianko แ Œ

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A reliable product for all occasions, the quality is at the level.

The most important thing to understand is that Odyssey is an action-adventure game about collecting collectibles. Platforming in the game goes by the wayside or even third plan - 80 percent of the time in the game you will be running, swimming, throwing a hat at perfect toothless enemies, anything but jumping on platforms. Imagine a HOT that was chopped up into 15 mini-maps and everything was thrown out of it except for parkour and collecting Korok seeds. BOTV, where they are allowed to use abilities not according to their own understanding, but only where intended, with each rune a couple of cuts per game. That's about it and is a new game about Mario. At the same time, as I already said, the game was made with high quality, the developers squeezed the maximum out of the collection of collectibles. The problem is that it's still collecting collectibles - something that in any other game you would just give up on. PROBABLY, the game unfolds completely differently if you play it with two people and use all the possibilities of motion control. Unfortunately, I did not have such an opportunity, because. I have Switch Lite. And for a person who only plays solo and only portable, this is a nice bauble at 7.5/10. In this case, put all these rave reviews out of your head and don't wait for SHEDEEVAR. Then, you won't be disappointed and enjoy Mario's silly relaxing gameplay.

Pros
  • The game is made of very high quality, with attention to detail, able to keep the player interested in research and reward with a sense of satisfaction for each moon found. Some mechanics are original, and the worlds are original. The graphics are fairly simple, but the visual design is (overall) as good as ever.
Cons
  • - Most moves (jumping and hat tossing) are motion-based and difficult to do in handheld mode. In other words, the game does not create situations where these tricks would be needed (then why did they add them at all?). - The gameplay is very simple and extremely repetitive, both at the micro level (for example, almost all bosses are killed according to the same algorithm and repeated several times), and at the macro level (only the scenery changes when the world changes, but the gameplay hardly develops). - The game gives you some special abilities (mechanics), but you will use them exactly where intended, 1-2 times per game. Therefore, it seems that these mechanics are added to the game artificially, such "mechanics for the sake of mechanics". - Some worlds look secondary.
