Excellent Personal Space Air Purifier

Packaging: First, I would like to note the packaging. The packaging is of very high quality and with tight tolerances, which means the product itself cannot move inside the box. This is great because it seems unlikely that the product could be damaged by a fall during transit. My product was in perfect condition when it arrived. The manual is written in English and Japanese, and while you don't need it, it's very easy to follow. Appearance: The aesthetic is simple and not too ostentatious. The manufacturer didn't try to create what I would call an "iDevice" with unnecessary bright accents and RGB LEDs. The exterior is polished enough to look good in the room, but it's certainly not the centerpiece that's going to stand out in the area. The black and brushed steel go well with my office space. Operating noise: There are two operating modes: Quiet and Strong. These modes can be switched by simply pressing the power button. In quiet mode, the noise is very negligible and I would rate it (without hardware assistance) as loud as a typical computer fan at its maximum volume. I first tried it on my office desk and with the headset on I couldn't hear anything at all. With the headset off, my computer audio was masked. I also tested it in my upstairs bathroom and the noise was so quiet that it didn't bother my cat even though she was a foot away from her feeding spot. It's probably twice as loud in strong mode, but it also seems a lot more powerful. Continuing the same comparison, it's probably as loud as a laptop fan running to cool the computer. Performance: I am satisfied with the performance. I would definitely say that managing your expectations is important; It will not replace your powerful standalone unit and is powered by 5V 1A. For a small space like a car or your loved one (since I use it on my desktop) this is enough. I test performance by lighting a candle and then blowing it out to create lots of smoke to see how quickly and if the device can mitigate the odor and just the smoky area. When placed next to a candle in strong mode, there was little to no smoke, so the results were favorable. It wasn't as strong in gentle mode, but still helped absorb some of the smoke. Features: This device is pretty basic and you don't need to refer to the manual; it is plug and play. However, it has a few features that are great. The ability to toggle between soft, strong and standby is handy when you don't want to switch off but want to change the power level or just switch off. During a conference call, I can just turn on the soft mode and no one can tell if the device is within 2ft of me. This thing uses an H13 HEPA filter that advertises a filter rating of 0.3 microns. Although I can't measure it, the filter does look like the HEPA filter on my shop vacuum. Maintaining or replacing the filter is also very easy: to open the compartment, just turn the base 1/8th clockwise. There's also a sponge that claims to be able to be applied with essential oils or perfume, but I haven't tried it as I'm more of a fan of neutrally scented mediums. General: - Very well packaged. - Excellent fit and finish. - Quiet operation in any mode (especially economical). - Enough performance for a device of this size. - Enough features, but not so many that you have to pull out the manual.
