Review on Efficient Filtration with UP Aqua UA-600 Hang On Back External Filter by Stephanie Lum

great idea, but poorly constructed, no possibility to buy the necessary filter pads

Received today, UP Aqua UA 600 is attached to the external filter. He had no instructions, no white filter material for the top bowl. It comes with four bowls that can be filled with just "little bits" of whatever you want. Trays are not deep. Three of them are 1.25 inches deep, you can only fit one layer of hollow ceramic material with mechanical filter media in the bowl as each bowl fits inside the other. The bottom one has a small coarse filter that comes with it. The top filter bowl is only 1/2" deep and is designed for a white filter pad. You could change the white filter every few weeks. The white filter pad should be less than 1/2" thick for you to put it on top. My white ones Filter pads for my Eheims are 3/4" thick, remember they almost double in size when wet. ALL trays are cut with four notches on the sides, making it impossible to cut the pads from a larger piece. They definitely need a template which is not supplied. Also the top filter bowl has a bar in the middle to lift the bowls making it difficult to insert the white spacer.I tried putting loose polyester filter material in the top bowl. it was impossible, it didn't work.Today I emailed the company and asked if it would be possible to buy pre-cut white and coarse filter pads. You will probably need a lot of them igen for this filter to work. For what you get I think the price is too high. Schedule a return. didn't even pick it up. I haven't found anything to put in the top filter bowl. It's a shame, the idea is great if you think about it a bit more.
