Personal Review by Sumiko Amethyst - Installation: The most important thing you need to know about Amethyst is its VTA. You have to set your arm at 20 degrees or you will be very confused as to why the sound is so bassy. Sound characteristics:1. Excellent noise level. Irritation from scratching is minimized.2. Outstanding soundstage. Instruments, musicians and singers claim their places and keep them. The swirls and "lily gilding" effects added by the sound engineers are evident.3. The resonance is reduced to a minimum. The pickup is merciless in suppressing resonances. This is a big problem in other carts.4. liveliness. There is no improvisation or additional reaction to abrupt changes in the material. It offers only what is on the vinyl and everything that is there.5. Truthfulness.
