Description of Acr 2886 ACR AISLink MOB

ACR 2886 Aislink Mob Personal Ais Overboard Beacon. Advanced Automatic Identification System (AIS) technology comes to the rescue with this compact and affordable man overboard beacon with integrated Digital Selective Calling (DSC) and GPS. Unlike a personal locator beacon, which signals orbiting search and rescue satellites, AISLink sends an alert message within seconds to all local vessels with an AIS receiver and/or AIS-enabled plotter. The AISLink MOB automatically activates upon inflation of the lifejacket, sending an initial alert within 15 seconds to all AIS receivers and plotters in the vicinity. The AISLink MOB also has the ability to alert your crew to the emergency by activating the DSC alarm on your vessel's VHF.

Well done, every detail.

Hopefully we'll never need it, but it's nice to know we have it in our life jackets! I gave it 4 stars because it does NOT come with any helpful instructions, although a full manual is available on their website, the packaging and tiny instructions don't tell you that! There are many details in it, but it's not clear how they fit together.

Pros
  • Unlike a Personal Locator Beacon that warns of orbiting Search and Rescue satellites, AISLink sends an alert to all local vessels with an AIS receiver and/or AIS-enabled chartplotter in seconds.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Came with a tiny setup "instruction " that .

Came with tiny "instructions" for setup which told me practically NOTHING. I had to go to Youtube to find out what those extra parts were, and even then the ACR installation video didn't explain what the other two parts (a small rubber bushing and a plastic T-shaped jig) were included in the kit for. .

  • I have no bad feelings about it, everything is fine
