I bought this a few years ago and learned using the manual (I copied it, laminated it and kept it next to the machine), video, book bought, -line class, and I'm still learning a little bit about it. A course in a sewing shop would probably be even better - hands-on training. Overlocks are different than regular sewing machines and you need patience with them. Occasionally use it for pillowcases, pillowcases, clothing - everything. During the Christmas season last year it got stuck and I was fiddling with the voltage a lot and couldn't get it to work properly so I took it for a vote. Works great again. if you buy it clean and oil regularly and keep covered when not in use. Setup cost about $160, which is standard for sergeants. I've read that you should service them about once a year as the techs can clean, oil and check them inside. I had my 3-4 years before I took them and am willing to pay every 3-4 years to keep them in good condition as I won't be upgrading to anything more expensive. It's perfect for my sewing needs at home. Paying every 3-4 years to keep them in good condition as I won't be upgrading to anything more expensive. It's perfect for my sewing needs at home.
