I found the archwire too short and flimsy to wrap around the bridge of my large nose for a good seal. This is a simple solution: cut off the top of the mask next to the ear strap, remove the thin short wire and replace it with a wire about 2.5 cm longer and stiffer. I used the thick steel wire that artists use to make fittings. (Make sure you file off any sharp edges.) Then I simply folded it in half to cover the bridge of my nose and creased it a little more on each side to give it the shape of the cheeks. I don't think the filter is that helpful, air tends to bypass it, but the activated carbon in the filter helps keep the smell fresh. I have to wear a mask all night at work and I smoke so I don't want to wear a smelly mask. I also have a beard so I'll never get a really good cast, but I feel safer with it than without. This is pretty handy, but I also trim sharp corners off the filter cartridges as they can sting you if you don't. It's a decent mask, especially if you have a small beard, but needs a little tweaking for comfort and safety.
