I was so impressed with the $10 TCL Socl300 that I had to see how much $40 I could get from TCL. I have to say they are not worth it. They sound great and fit well, but the high-frequency range is reproduced too well. I really appreciate the very high frequency response, so you can hear all the high-end details that most cheaper headphones don't weakly reproduce, but it turned out to be overkill. I hear a very, very high frequency hiss and my ears get tired after a few minutes. He may get angry about the compression of the music, but it really worries me. Aside from the TCL Socl300's low distortion and limited high frequency response, I would say I prefer the 1/4 price SOL300. The Sony MDR-EX110AP sound better and currently cost around $22.
