My foot was hit by a golf cart, breaking my ankle and injuring my Achilles tendon. This is not ice on the sole of the foot but on all parts above it including the back of the heel and top of the leg. He has an ice pack (not gel) that lasts about 30-40 minutes, which is longer than doctors recommend. I use 1/2 paper towel when I put it on so it doesn't get that cold at first. There is a mesh lining that keeps the ice pack in place and makes it easy to put on. Since the ice pack can get stiff if I leave it flat in the freezer, I roll up the entire ice pack to make it easier to apply. Now I use them when my leg hurts. I would highly recommend it to others. Be sure and look at the pictures how to put it on! So easy. Remember that this will not freeze any part of the foot. Elastic Velcro straps just wrap around the bottom and fasten at the top.
