These gloves were bought for my 8 year old son who loves to play snowballs. These gloves aren't waterproof, but they'll stay warm for a while before wet hands get to your hands. The only touch part of the glove was black when we got it, but after getting wet a few times and washing it once or twice, the special pads are now gray and white. it doesn't really matter what he does with the gloves. We ordered another pair as they fit him so well and kept him warm.
