. two weeks ago and it works great. Original thermostat was still working

I replaced my original thermostat with this two weeks ago and it works great. The original thermostat still worked but had a rubber seal around the rating. This rubber seal is cracked and crumbled. If it was closed in cold weather, coolant would trickle into the radiator. As a result, my engine never fully warmed up. Now I'm warm and my thermometer doesn't stop in the cold.
