It would look good on a shelf. When locked, the drawer can still move 1/8 inch to one side, engage the lock, and slide out. Luckily you can't see the contents and it won't fall out easily, but I was hoping it would stay tightly closed until unlocked. I see this leading to someone noticing they can pull it out a little and then trying to force it open rather than finding a solution. Some complain that it takes a little push to unlock, but you don't want it to unlock itself just because it's tilted to the side. The rod must not be too loose. Also remember that wood will swell in damp places, so something that requires a tight fit can be more difficult to use if the wood swells. Maybe that's why there is so much space around the box? The dimensions of the box don't appear to be a bit rounded or accurate. The shelf is about 8 inches wide, 7 inches deep, 0.5 inches high (actually just over a centimeter, like 1 or 2 mm) or 3 and 1/8 inches wide, 2 and 3/4 inches deep, not quite 1 /4 inches high. It's not that easy to measure accurately in inches as I didn't want to go down to 1/16 or 1/32 and I'm willing to bet this will change a lot of a product. anyway to the other as they don't match either system so it's best to use the measurement in centimeters when comparing to what you're trying to fit in.
