I read many reviews of chisel sets before throwing in the towel and picking up the sweetheart set. In my case, money was NOT the deciding factor. As an advanced woodworker who has never considered making dovetails with anything other than a router jig, it has become apparent that purchasing a handyman kit will include tool improvements that will not significantly affect (improve) my usual use of those tools. in business. hand tools. Yes, no one will mistake my practice and work with Rob Kosman (see YouTube). The bits themselves are ground absolutely flat with sharp 25 degree (?) bit bevel angles. From the box (actually a beautifully crafted very heavy cowhide pouch) they nicely trim the dowels and end structure of red oak and poplar (as an example). I have measured each bit with a Starrett caliper and they all match the nominal imperial bit width exactly. Each chisel is beveled backwards on the sides to facilitate machining of geometric shapes such as slots. The bits show some wear marks, but while visible, the finish actually feels fairly smooth - perhaps a 63u (rms) machined surface as a guess. I like the loose handles for easier future sharpening jobs. I had no problem getting the grips firmly on the bit shank (or bead). The wooden handles are comfortable to hold, but are a bit short so that the front handle rests on the steel shank of the chisel. But in my opinion, using this tool adds a little more control and precision. I love that "Sweethearts" are still made in the UK. Generally a high-quality chisel set at a fair price.
