I bought this to line up with a Grohe shower pipe that was repeatedly clogged with tiny debris from my pipes or water heater. It worked GREAT! The thread collapses at the junction with the wall. I may have added an o-ring, I don't remember. Please note that the filter set up in this way works in reverse to normal use, so the limescale residue is collected behind the screen. No problem, it still works fine. In this application, it is not under constant pressure, only when the shower is running. From time to time I unscrew the cap, turn on the shower and flush the accumulated limescale down the shower drain.
