Review on Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One: Canon PIXMA MG5220 (Model 4502B017) by Samuel Hansen

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Works well. Expensive maintenance

I only got 3 of these, a DOA. Bought one for me and one for my brother and they both work. I've had my own for over a year so my rating is based on home use over that period. First, the printer does its job well. I won't go into too many technical reviews of each feature and really give you a general overview of my experience. However, it was easy to set up, especially when connected to the network. The problem I had was being patient as I wheeled in my network password to find each character. Otherwise, even if you have no experience, follow the instructions given, you will succeed. The software was still a little clunky in my opinion, but much better than most other manufacturers I've used before. Scanning the documents was well done, only sending it to the computer took me some time. But that might be because it's wireless. Still, I found it a bit slow. Printing was very clean and crisp for documents we needed and sometimes documents with images. I have not checked the image settings on glossy paper etc due to the ink usage on this machine. This has to be my biggest complaint about this device, it uses way too much ink and replacement parts are very expensive compared to its competitors. The print looks great, but the price is too high for me for such a device. In addition, it has two black cartridges and then regular color cartridges. The exchange is slightly more expensive. In general, the printer works well. But given the cost of replacement cartridges and a DOA on arrival, I don't think it's a good choice. And I'm saying that because the bug related to the not working on arrival seemed to be a fairly commonly reported issue when I was researching it.
