CAUTION VIRUS!

I don't write many reviews but since I've tested three similar body cameras I thought it would be helpful for people to share the pros and cons of each. I am not a LEO and mainly use it when walking my dog. I'm not looking for an action cam type 4K video, I'm looking for something to record my interactions when meeting tourists with other dogs (CYA). Three models I tried: CammPro 1296P 64GB (weighs 6.2 oz) Rexing P1 64GB (weighs 3.9 oz) Patrol Master 1296P 64GB (weighs 5.9 oz) First, a few general notes about cameras : At the time of writing this article, all three cameras cost the same ($125-$140). The video quality on all three devices is okay, not terrible, but not outstanding either. I compared the Rexing and the Patrol Master side by side and the Patrol Master was the best of the three. All show pixelation in low light and/or fast motion. Photo quality from all three cameras is below average, especially when compared to today's lower-end smartphones. For me it's not that important because I don't plan to use it for photography. I should also note that the USB port on the camera was unreliable on both CammPro and Rexing and if I barely touched the cable when plugging it in, they would disconnect and then reconnect. This doesn't seem to be a problem with the Patrol Master and the USB cable is solid and doesn't come loose, when I pick up the camera while it's plugged in. Here are a few notes on each camera individually. CammPro This was the first one I tried and it's the biggest. heavy and multifunctional of the three. It's the only one of the three that has GPS, which is nice but not essential for me. The CammPro also has the largest clip (necessary due to its size), but when attached it covers the entire rear window. It also comes with a separate charging dock, while others only have a wall charger/USB cable. This chamber appears to be the longest-lived of the three. When I bought this camera, one section of the description said it had a 170 degree field of view and another section said it had a 140 degree field of view, but that seems to have been fixed now. One complaint I have about this camera is that it makes a LOUD noise when it turns on and I don't see a way to turn that off. Rexing I REALLY wanted to like this camera because it was the smallest and lightest of them all, but I really don't recommend it for a number of reasons. When I plugged it into my computer, it first tried to install a virus. Luckily my antivirus found it and removed it, but it shouldn't happen. Also, the description is wrong. It claims the video format is H264 MPEG, but it's actually uncompressed MPEG in AVI format, and the recorded video files are about 2.5x larger than CammPro and about 2x larger than Patrol Master. This effectively reduces the amount of storage compared to other cameras with the same storage capacity. Copying videos from camera to computer also takes much longer. The description also states that the camera has GPS, but it doesn't. The description also says the battery can last up to 10 hours and while I haven't tested it, I'd be surprised if that were true. Manual menu descriptions do not match actual camera menu options very well. On the other hand, this camera has a 21x zoom. It says optical zoom but I think it's actually digital zoom but I'm not 100% sure. Patrol Master After not liking CammPro and Rexing very much, I decided to order and try Patrol Master. This is the camera which I have chosen. It's not as small and light as the Rexing, but it's smaller and lighter than the CammPro and has almost all the same features (minus GPS) and I think it's the best combination of size and features. for my needs. It also has a sound that plays during boot, but it can be turned off in settings. The buttons have a nice feel and the camera comes with two clips. The files are H264 videos in MOV format. The menu items and the Patrol Master manual are the simplest of the three (though not perfect). Battery life seems good so far, but I haven't really tried to see if I can get 10 hours of recording. Thus, all three of these cameras are able to perform their functions. I would most likely quit Rexing if it wasn't trying to infect my computer with a virus and if the description was correct. CammPro was good but actually bigger and heavier than I prefer. The Patrol Master strikes a good balance of features and quality for the price. The files are H264 videos in MOV format.
