This is a very beautiful, comfortable everyday dress. I have size 7 and size 6 in blue for 6 and 5 year olds. They're both slightly above average and thin, which hopefully gives some basis for judging the sizing recommendation. My 5 year old is very picky about clothes and this material gets dirty easily. So if you have a dirty child, be prepared to test it thoroughly with a stain remover to make sure it looks in good condition. I also don't put clothes in the dryer, so I have no comment on how the material holds up to pilling and stretching, although I can confirm that it holds the color without fading after several months of frequent washing.
