Great raincoat for cycling; But not for long

I ride my bike daily in Portland, Oregon, so I see my fair share of rain. I bought this yellow jacket thinking it would be highly visible and also waterproof. I've been wearing it in drizzle for a few weeks now and it's worked well. I got my first real test last night in a heavy downpour and my shirt and hair were up and dry. Some of the features I like most about this jacket are: the area around the collar where the jacket lies against the face when the zip is fully closed is soft and plush; The buttons to tighten the hood are also made of soft material, which makes everything around your face nice and comfortable. For cycling, I like that it's longer (protects my buttocks), the hood fits well under the helmet while still giving good peripheral vision, and I like that it's a nice light yellow-green without being loud. "Bike gear" so that I don't feel like an idiot wearing it instead of a regular raincoat in non-biking situations. In terms of size, I would say a size smaller than usual. I'm a size XL, which is what I usually take, and I find this jacket a bit roomy. I chose to keep it rather than alter it because it allows me to wear a few layers including a sweater or fleece underneath, but it definitely tends to be oversized. So if you are looking for a slim fit, go down one size. Although this jacket comes with a compact storage/carry bag, it actually doesn't fit very well in a storage bag. While this jacket isn't overly bulky, it's definitely not the kind of jacket you'll cram into a few cubic inches. A year and a half after purchase, the waterproof inner lining is starting to peel off, and the jacket is now considered simply waterproof, no longer waterproof. During a heavy downpour, my clothes under my jacket get a little damp. I have worn the jacket many times over the past year and quarter but for the price I would expect the jacket to last at least a few years.
