It's a great tank - my new review

I had picked up this and a couple other tanks to bring with us camping, and it was a great idea! I've always been a fan of the Abrams tank (after watching Desert Storm unfold as a kid) and this is a great introduction to RC tanking. This is not exactly a scale model, but it's close enough to recognize of course as the Abrams. The engine sound is that of a diesel but that's OK. The steam exhaust is a great addition for "realism" along with all the sound effects, and the recoil on shooting the main gun is cool. The machine gun only "fires" (sound only) as the turret rotates. The camouflage was a good match for our campsite (not that you can hide from the noise of the engine).Although it shoots airsoft BBs just fine, we only brought the water BBs for the campground. You couldn't even tell we were there at the end of the trip as they shrink back down to about nothing once "exploded". They don't really leave a mark on anything though and sometimes they jam, sometimes they shoot, and sometimes they break up in the barrel. No big deal there. Instead of shooting at the other tanks, we were practicing "capture the flag" using empty water bottles as the "bases".Now I'm not sure exactly why, but this tank out of the 3 total I ordered (2 other were different models from the same manufacturer) would slip a track pretty easily in the dirt & grass. Somehow the track would come off the drive sprocket 1/2 way. It was easy enough to slip back on though. Overall the tank handled the rough terrain better than I thought. It would climb as steep as you wanted until it's tipping over point. It was fun to watch the suspension on the road wheels soak up the bumps here & there.Overall this is a pretty fun tank. This is not incredibly expensive so it's an easy way to get into tanking if you are thinking about it. The runtime is plenty long and we never experienced a dead battery, although we swapped for full batteries at the beginning of each day.

Pros
  • Husband loves it. But the gun is not shooting the bullets.Update, the gun randomly started working
Cons
  • The tank only runs on a 2.4Ghz frequency, limiting its range and making it susceptible to interference from other devices
