My wife is a great cook. But she has never used a sous vide cooker. I didn't feel like spending a few hundred bucks on a complete customization of something she had never tried and might not like. That's how I came to this product. After trying it for different dishes she loved it and I have to give it 5 stars. What really appealed to me about this particular sous vide cooker, apart from the price (not the cheapest, which puts me off, but certainly not the super expensive complete systems), was the description of the water circulation with this device. No other oven talks about water circulation and I can understand why. The creators of this product really emphasize the importance of water circulation to maintain a constant water temperature, which is the whole point of sous vide cooking. The instructions were really easy to read and went through on first use. There are many resources online about the best temperature for different types of food and how long to cook them. For those who have never cooked sous vide before, I have to say that it is odd to imagine a steak being "cooked" at 136 degrees Fahrenheit for an hour. At first it just doesn't make sense in the brain. But it is clear that the concept works. Slow cooking at a low temperature (like the temperature you want the meat to finish at anyway) makes sense when you think about it. So yes, the sous vide concept works great. And this device performs surprisingly well for its price. Like I said, I have no choice but to give it 5 stars. Everything about it is perfect, especially for the price.
