So I will give an abridged version of all reviews. What you need to know about this device is obviously that it takes time to warm up. about 10 minutes. for optimal sound quality. When I turn on this unit for the first time, you may hear a SMALL hum. like REALLY weak but the buzzing goes away after about 5-10 minutes. So. let him warm up. Peeps also suggested replacing the standard bulbs with GE bulbs, which I did, which sounds fantastic. I'm not sure how the standard tubes sound, but I kept them in case they explode or something. this is what happens when they terminate correctly. Another reviewer suggested opening up the unit and setting it to "Low" to reduce the hum. I tried to open the device but could not remove the circuit board. Luckily I didn't have to change anything in my setup. I am using a Technics 1200MK5 turntable with a Sure M44-7 stylus/cartridge and a Technics bowl. I'll swap out the needle for one that doesn't scratch, but that's all I have because. Well I'm a DJ. Use what you have. Receiver - Sony DN-1030. Overall, this thing works exactly as advertised. If you come to my review I hope it helps. Enjoy and don't overspend on recordings. World.
