I bought the 12,000 BTU version for the large master bedroom. I have windows that slide from right to left to open. The included window kit and hose worked great and I had no problem installing them. This is a very long exhaust hose. So if you want this device to be 10 feet from a window, for example, you'll need to buy a longer hose separately. - Noise. When I say "mostly quiet" I'm referring to the fact that in "Fan" mode this unit is the quietest fan in an AC box I've heard. It's SUPER quiet and I have to leave it on "high" to get enough white noise for us to sleep. When the compressor turns on to cool the room, that's a SIGNIFICANT noise "difference" since fan mode is SO quiet. So my point is that with the compressor on, this unit has a reasonable and expected noise level, especially for 12,000 BTU, and is on par with other brands I have in other rooms in my house. However, the sudden "drop" or "rise" in volume between a very quiet fan and "normal" compressor noise plus fan cooling takes some getting used to during sleep. I also can't use the "Eco" mode at night for the same reason. The difference between dead silence and full compressor cooling is just too big (the kind that wakes me up every time it turns on or off in eco mode). So eco mode is good during the day or evening but I need to switch to normal mode. "Cool" mode at night so the device never turns off completely. None of this is taken away from my rating as I think it is "Cool and Quiet" as it was called. In terms of cooling, this item cools my 200 square meter bedroom and bathroom well. In cool mode and with high fan speed, a LOT of cold air is blown out of this bad boy. It has a cool motorized blinds setup that also creates variable breezes. The remote control is very convenient and easy to use. The only thing that would make it better would be if it had a dimly lit button and screen for use in total darkness. The only reason I'm even deducting a star is because of the control knobs on top of the AC itself. If the light is on in the bedroom, no problem. But when the light is off and you don't want to disturb your sleeping spouse, you can't see any of them. They are designed to allow these controls and the temporary screen to be dimly lit at night. Even give it a key backlight setting of "Off, Low, Medium, High". The only way to change a control, even in a dim room, is to either turn on the light or shine a flashlight on it. Ironically, however, the temperature setting is illuminated so brightly that it completely burns up in the atmosphere. So that people in space can see I've set it to "70" but no one can change that fact without turning on the light. So hey, 5 stars in my book means 'absolutely perfect', which is why some might say 'not great', but that's it. All in all I would highly recommend this AC unit.
