I'm a commercial HVAC technician and one thing I rely on in DC, upstate Virginia and Maryland is GPS and road conditions. I bought this mount for my van because I needed the large screen on my iPad for Google Maps and navigation. The problem I had was that there is only one real way to adjust this vertical position with a specific screw. My problem was that when the docking station is placed upright on a Ford Transit 250, it mounts right in front of the rear camera dash/data center. To get around this and install it upside down so that the mounting ball is about an inch lower, I went to a hardware store and bought a 6 x 1.0 hex head screw (metric) because when I tried to tighten a specific screw with Using fingers, you pressed buttons on the dashboard. The hex wrench I used was 3/16" (see pics). Now it sits perfectly where I want it with a lower profile. One improvement I would like is the spring expansion jaws also located on the bottom similar to how it would be easier to dock my iPad upside down. Also make the jaws a little bigger. I had to take my iPad out of the Otterbox case to get it to fit. However, this is an older iPad.
