2009 Macbook Pro Reliable Update

My wife's mid 2009 Macbook Pro was sluggish even though the original 500GB drive was a 7200rpm model. Checking System Preferences > Serial-ATA showed that the factory drive was only connected at a negotiated connection speed of 1.5 Gigabit, which is half of the potential 3 Gbps. This has been pointed out by many on the Apple forums, and expert responses have noted that standard drives cannot even achieve 1.5 gigabits of bandwidth. but. This easy-to-install WD drive connects at a maximum negotiated speed of 3Gbps. and due to a drive or faster connection, tests show a 50 percent improvement in read and write speeds for large blocks. Unfortunately, constant and random writes of blocks of 256 KB or less are quite slow. Since this applies to many plist files, cache, and other items in OS X, I don't see any performance improvement on this laptop in everyday use. hot old drive) - and quiet; The increased capacity is welcome and overall performance is decent. A good upgrade for the price and in our case a good replacement for the broken original drive.
