This jacket has good sleeve length for a tall woman in a size L but has very broad shoulders and a very narrow waistline. I'd say it's more suited to apple figures or very muscular ladies with heavy tops. I still love the jacket's warmth, practicality (big pockets, yes!) and look enough to keep. I have the arm span of a 18 meter man on a thin female figure and that makes buying women's clothing a real nightmare. Size L is perfect for women who are in the top 3% in terms of height (I have a 34 inch inseam on my legs). If you have 40"+ hips but small shoulders I doubt any size will fit, but if you have broader shoulders and 40"+ hips go up a size.
