Objects are MUCH closer than they appear. A wide-angle lens distorts the image so much that it cannot be used as a rear view, either on the freeway or in a parking lot. While the guide lines are parallel on the monitor, they are actually heavily distorted due to the fisheye effect. It's hard to judge the angle of the trailer. The lag is very noticeable, but acceptable. I'm towing a very short trailer (T@b 320) with a camera just above the license plate. I expect latency will be an issue with large trailers. I believe a license plate bracket would be illegal in Texas. I chose a 4 hole mount which worked well and was very secure. Overall, it's useful enough for me to use, but it would be MUCH better with a longer lens.
