Review on FT4 Heart Rate Monitor by POLAR by Brad Wall

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A cheap but reliable fitness tracker that can beat some Fitbit and Apple devices

Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor (Silver/Black) It comes in multiple colors. Silver/Black - $60. The green version, my favorite, is only $49. For what it can do, this is an excellent price. That's why I bought it. Well, it's also because I don't care about being fashionable. For example, I would never spend $285 on a fancy new Apple Smart Watch. Even the Fitbit Blaze sets me back $149. For a small price, the Polar FT4 offers everything I need in a fitness tracker. Let's get to the watch itself, which Polar calls the "FT4 training computer". First, it gives me accurate data on heart rate and calories burned. Second, it tells me when I'm in the "fat burning zone." It will beep to let me know when I'm relaxing. It squeaks when I work too much. Finally, it tracks the details of my last 10 workouts. I can check the duration of a specific workout, the number of calories burned and how long I spent in the fat burning zone. Now let's move on to the chest strap, which Polar calls the "WearLink transmitter". At first I thought I was wearing a bra. Also, it was difficult to close the clasp as I have short arms. Then I found that it's easier to put it on backwards (so I can work with the clasp while it's on my chest) and then just pull it in the right direction. Once I got used to it, it was easy and didn't interfere with my workout. I've been using Polar FT4 for two years now. I use the FT4 about four times a week and just changed the batteries. It was easy. Polar recommends sending the FT4 training computer and WearLink transmitter to a Polar authorized service center to have new batteries installed, but that's too much work for me. In addition, changing the battery is easy. The watch uses a CR 1632 battery. The chest strap uses a CR 2025 battery. You can purchase these batteries at your local Walgreens or 7-Eleven store. The only downside Well, one thing the Polar FT4 can't do is count your steps. This is easy to fix. Just grab a cheap but reliable pedometer with 3D 3D sensor. I chose the Ozeri 4x3motion pocket pedometer. It costs $15.95 and is the most accurate pedometer I've ever used. It also records workouts for up to a week. Conclusion If, like me, you're a tight-fist on a budget, this fitness tracker is for you. The Polar FT4 costs $49. I paired it with a cheap pedometer that cost $15.95. So my total investment was only $64.95. That's a reasonable amount for me and I feel good knowing that every penny is an investment in my health. I use Polar FT4 when I'm on the treadmill. I even wear it for step aerobics. I even wear it when I lift weights. Being able to measure heart rate during exercise was a real breakthrough for me. Now I'm more focused on my workout and have a better understanding of what I need to do to burn more calories. I've already convinced my family and friends to buy the FT4. Note: I'm the only miser in the family. But let me get one thing straight: I may be a proud curmudgeon, but trust me, this isn't a cheap product.
