VOID Elite Surround premium gaming headset with 7.1 surround sound

wired Void Elite REALLY comfortable, barely audible on the head. there is no clip in the ears, the cups fit perfectly, the ears don't sweat or get hot, the headband is well padded, the mic is smooth and clean for everyone i've tested it with as it's fresh out of the Box and I got a replacement microphone for a cheap headset for free. The construction looks and feels solid, the plastic feels good, the strap adjustment snaps well and it sits well and securely on my head too. Surround sound in games with the right settings works as advertised and sounds pretty good. Cons: Still, unboxing the device looked like it had been shaved by a man. As far as I know there were bristles on and in the box. Does that mean it was a return? Packed carelessly in the factory by unwashed workers? The seals were intact, no defects that I could find on the unit, all protective plastics and cable ties were present and looked like they came from the factory. The surround sound plays pretty well with the music. It still sounds better than the iCue software's stereo setup with a USB dongle, but I placed it where you'd expect a regular headset to sound like it did the first time, and I'm not really an audiophile queen . The bass in these is absolutely terrible for music and really terrible for gaming if you want to be *very* charitable and call it bass. The iCue Bass Boost preset does next to nothing, and my motherboard has a built-in DAC that's built for serious sound (my computer is *built* to be a stat queen). Using only the 3.5mm jack in the DAC connectors results in even less bass, which is quite annoying as the outputs are designed for it without the use of a dongle. My desktop 7.1 surround sound system with these 3.5mm jacks is amazing, as are my other headsets. I didn't buy the headset to play music, but with the large driver advertised I was expecting something on par with no mic. Headphones. My Sony MDR-XB450 headset sounds much better, almost surround sound and powerful bass with no USB adapter and no EQ/software modification. Microphone mute works, but the indicator doesn't turn red when muted. either inverted or disabled manually on the headset itself or via software (OS, Webex, Steam, etc.). I checked the product listing and that particular listing doesn't mention a mute indicator while the wireless RBG does. There is definitely an LED lighting section in the mic boom just in front of the pickup, so I don't know if it's discontinued or if it's just not included in this particular non-RGB product. It seems that this will be a basic feature for all units, especially if they take up crafting an arrow with an indicator section. Who knows, maybe it's cheaper to have a tool and a workflow and just not plug it in. appears to be tilted towards the back of the headset. This will likely mean that the foam will curl up in the mesh covering it and not sit snugly in the headset strap. Time will tell and I will keep an eye on this and the other issues above during the return period. Verdict: This headset is more than adequate for long work conferences due to its comfort, clarity, and microphone, but it really falls short when there's music, explosions, or other faint sounds in-game. Highs and mids sound crystal clear. The voice is reproduced clearly and accurately as stated. Maybe I just got a bad headset like in many reviews? The lack of low end sounds is really disappointing, although I haven't used it for music, this is a gaming headset and games use a very wide range of sounds, the lack of bass seems to be a big rock and miss . on the Corsair part, even though the headset was only $60 at the time of writing.
