After reading other reviews I have to agree with the unusual position of the electrical connector. My old heating pad had the fork over the edge of the bottom edge of the bed. It has it on the top sleeping surface where your feet are. So I'm wondering if whoever came up with this idea would only use it for children or small adults. I'm 5'11" and my feet go over the top of the big jack the whole time. I don't always sleep with my legs straight, but this arrangement makes me wonder if maybe some short-legged engineer decided that way .To be honest , over the next few nights I "got used to it" and it stopped bothering me, but it shouldn't be where it would affect my comfort. As far as temperature control goes, it was my old one usually set it to 2 or 3. This one I think is best to use at 2 or low. I see some people getting burned trying to use it at high levels. The thing shouldn't Also, as others have mentioned, the heating elements don't go all the way to the bottom of the sleeping surface, so they don't reach your legs when you have long legs. (like me). I read the reviews before buying and should have 'heard' but figured it can't be that bad. I was wrong.
