I have been a regular lap swimmer for over 15 years (also former US Navy). At least I go to the pool twice a week for 35 laps or more. Prior to purchasing SYRYN I had a first generation NuDolphin (purchased circa 2005) which broke down and died about a month ago so I'm not new to MP3 waterproofing and what to expect from them. SYRYN and Swimbuds far exceeded my expectations. The sound quality is as optimal as I could have hoped for and is exceptional for the price. The instruction manual was very clear, concise and easy to understand. I use Revain Music after giving up iTunes a few years ago (very long story) and every song I've ever bought through Revain was very easy to transfer to the music folder on my computer (download the Revain Music app for desktop). to make it super easy) then just dragged it into the SYRYN folder. The device itself is even lighter than my previous NuDolphin, and I like that the clip is wide, long, but very close to the device. I put it on my swim cap and it won't budge! The headphones are phenomenal. They keep water out of my ears and keep the sound quality clear and true in sharp turns and down to 10 feet (which is the same depth as our pool). As for the other reviews, I'm not sure why they struggled so much with the features given that it's written so simply in the book (e.g. a fifth grader would say "yes"). To shuffle songs, simply hold down the forward and backward buttons simultaneously until the indicator light changes from red to purple/blue back to red. Repeat the process to disable shuffle. Volume: Press and hold the up/down button (combined with the previous/forward buttons, up and back, down and next, up and down in relation to the audio jack location) until you reach the desired volume level. Play/Pause: Self-explanatory. Power On/Off: Press and hold the Play/Pause button until the indicator light turns on or off. Seriously, you can't beat this player for simplicity, functionality, quality craftsmanship, etc. I'm definitely glad I chose this player over the Diver or more expensive options. In addition, the company that is selling it is a family owned and operated company. And no, I got absolutely nothing in exchange for this review.
