Overall I'm going to give this five stars because honestly, if the espresso doesn't wake you up, the jarringly loud motor that comes to life reluctantly heats up. Turning water into frothy, sour bean juice is sure to transport you to the real world. I also use this at night to heat water to top up my watering filament and it does the job perfectly and also manages to scare my kids to death as they run out of their beds screaming the house is sinking. Hell. Noise aside - not that that ear piercing could ever take the back seat - it's easy to use and produces a nice little cup of espresso. We bought reusable stainless steel pods and we grind our coffee well, which is very good and is good enough as long as you take three sips in the cup and barely sip a whiff of some frothed milk on top. If you switch into eco-justice warrior mode like we're trying to do then my advice would be to never use the pods that come with the machine as the refillable ones will seem downright disappointing afterwards. If you just start with a less attractive option, you'll never know what you're missing out on. Like a first marriage.
