Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Enhanced Gaming Chair: AKRacing Core Series EX, Black/Blue color by Ron Collins

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Update: The base is completely broken in less than 2 years. The spirit of the AK warranty team.

Edit September 2020 #2: The chair is completely broken. The cracked part of the base mentioned below broke completely leaving a huge hole in the frame. The chair is almost useless now. Still no response from AK warranty team. I don't mind endorsing a product that might work as long as the company stands behind it, but I wouldn't recommend anyone buying anything from a company that is dishonest with their warranty. 5/10 year guarantee? Yeah right. Buy SecretLab for a little more, you'll feel better. Edit September 2020: Unfortunately the chair is out of order. It wobbles incredibly and creaks on the base so I removed my chair to check it out. The metal part of the base that connects to the bottom of the chair actually breaks. I'm not sure how long it will take before it breaks completely, but I'll just bite the bullet and buy a secret lab. The chair didn't move, didn't tip over, didn't fall over or anything. I contacted AKRacing warranty service and they asked for a receipt and photo of the damage which I sent a few weeks ago but never got a reply. Besides the destruction of the base, the cloth is also badly worn, and there are all kinds of lumps under the surface of the cloth. Overall the chair looks quite worn after less than 2 years which is disappointing especially considering the longer AK warranty was the reason I bought this chair in the first place. Very impressed with how long it took. I removed the star base and lubricated the bearings with some white lithium grease and allowed some thinner household grease to seep into the mainspring while it was inverted. The creaking is gone again! Edit January 2019: I've decided to upgrade my rating from 4 to 5 stars. One of the reasons for this is that after almost 4 months of daily use this chair is still as durable as the day I bought it. That doesn't sound like performance, but it is for me, mainly for two reasons: I often adjust the chair and rock it back and forth a lot. I put the chair and armrests in a different position depending on whether I'm playing or not. When I'm not gaming but just lounging, watching YouTube or movies, I tap into my inner grandfather and use the chair as a rocking chair almost daily. Every chair I've EVER owned, including the $600+ leather office chairs at work, starts to wobble after a while, but the worst part is they start LOST. Not only is this chair still solid and doesn't wobble at all between the cylinder and the seat itself, but it's still as quiet as the night. Every other chair I've had lasts maybe 2-3 weeks or less before starting to squeak, but not this one. Despite some of my caveats listed below in my original review (subpar assembly instructions and no physical connection between chair and base), I think this chair will be worth the purchase price and those two small caveats in the long run. . I highly recommend it. Original Review: There are few things in life that I think are worth spending money on and getting good quality rather than looking for a cheap option. These are often things that are used every day for many years, such as furniture, appliances, a mattress, etc. For me, a good office chair falls into this category. I'd rather spend a little more now to get a good quality chair that will last 5 or 10 years than find something cheap that I'll have to replace soon. While not top of the range, it's certainly a lot more expensive than all of Revain's most popular chairs, but there's a reason for that. The frame and base are all metal, and the gas strut and wheels are probably better quality than what you'll find on something cheaper. Overall, the build quality and materials are very good and don't pretend to be anything special than they are. Many of the "budget" chairs have plastic faux leather that will start to wear out and peel off after a year or two. I speak from experience! Although it looks trendy, it doesn't last long. Luckily this chair is all fabric, which wears out much better over time than cheap chairs, and has the added bonus of not being very cold when you're sitting on it with no pants on. Don't ask me how I know that. Another big plus for me is the adjustability. Not only can the backrest of this chair be reclined (like a car seat), but the armrests are also highly adjustable. They can be moved up or down, straight ahead, pointed outwards or inwards, and even moved back and forth. This is very important to me as I am very picky about having the armrests at the right height and position for my desk so as not to strain or aggravate my shoulders and elbows. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase. . I will be happy if the stool stays as strong after 3 years or more. The only reason it has 4 stars instead of 5 is this: 1. There is no way to attach the chair to the gas tank and there is no way to attach the gas tank to the base. This means that gravity and your own weight are holding the bottom half of the chair together. It's not that difficult, but it's something to keep in mind if you plan on lifting the chair to move it, as the large, heavy metal base can come loose in the process. The guide isn't the worst I've seen, but it's not the best either. I was able to assemble it without difficulty, but less experienced people might have a little trouble. What I really struggled with for just a moment was figuring out how to properly attach the two cushions to the chair. This isn't mentioned anywhere in the instructions, and there aren't any ready-made photos of the back of the chair, so you'll have to figure it all out yourself. All in all, I would recommend this chair. It's a little pricey for the end product, but if it stands the test of time, it's worth it.
