Review on Landscape Lighting Equivalent Resistant Non Dimmable by Christopher Sullivan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Basically a good LED landscape light with some disadvantages

First the bad. There is practically no documentation for this lamp. Most lamps have the relevant information stamped or screen printed on the base. Not that lightbulb, nothing, poof. Comes in a plain cardboard box with a small sticker saying 12W 300 is OK but no manufacturer or contact info. It doesn't inspire confidence that the manufacturer stands behind these lamps. Also, the design of the electrical connector is a bit crappy. When you loosen the screw to attach the wire, the piece of brass that is usually soldered to the back of the bulb (at least with all halogens I've ever used) is just a loose piece that you need to straighten as you are getting dressed. Screw (and try to hold the terminal so it doesn't slip out). Not much but for the money they get for LED bulbs the design should be better. Now for the good. The all-glass construction is similar to a halogen landscape light, meaning it's thick and should be very strong on impact. And the brightness is high. I used 36w halogen bulbs which are easily twice as bright. Finally, since I reduce the power by two-thirds, I can easily add a few more lamps without fear of overloading the transformer. -3 years I've run out of halogens and I'll swap them out for LEDs when they burn out). These are the first LED landscape lights I've bought. Let's hope Hypericon or some of the other big names start making them. Edit: One of the bulbs stopped working after 8 months. I'm not lowering my rating because the manufacturer responded that way (same day) and agreed to send me a new one.

Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others
